A sneak peek into our kitchen remodel, and how we decided on the appliances that helped us gain back valuable space we’d lost with our previous refrigerator and dishwasher. We wer able to make more room for two sets of cabinets on each side of the dishwasher, and a pantry next to the refrigerator. Our counter space also grew, not only with the main island, but also the side nook next to the refrigerator. Amazing what a few extra feet can do for meal prep! Come take a look.

If you came here to find a gift for the cat lover in your life,

As you may know, we are moving to an older home that we fell in love with! And we’ve been working on how we’ll make the new space ours, particularly the living room, which has been so much so fun. We’ve drafted a functional, mid century modern living room with the help of Modsy. You take a few photos of your space (empty or full of chaos and clutter), they take your style and budget into consideration, then give you two 3D design plans that you can make revisions to as many times as you’d like. And you can buy the furniture, art, etc right within the site!

In this fall hybrid salad recipe (it doesn’t hinge on the greens), the roasted red kuri with its golden flesh is the star, with supporting roles coming from:
a tangle of massaged kale,
a creamy coating of lemon tahini sauce,
crunchy bursts from heirloom marcona almonds,
and a smoky dusting of spices.

As a lover of vegetarian food, I find plant-based wine pairings can often be overlooked. Most research will give you all the meat and seafood pairing ideas you could ever want (which isn’t a bad thing!), but vegetarian are few and far between.
Truth is, many of the same guidelines apply, just in different context. Fat, acidity, body, sweetness, tartness, and flavor all play a crucial role in pairing vegetarian food with wine. When deciding on what wines you’ll serve, you’ll want to choose those that highlight the true flavors of vegetables, pasta, and grains, rather than overpower them.
